Our founding and growth

The Free State Dart League was founded by Shylo "The Commissioner" Evans in the fall of 2024. After moving to Lawrence from South Dakota in the fall of 2023, Shylo found himself traveling frequently to Topeka and the Kansas City metro area to play darts. To reduce travel and foster a local dart scene, he decided to start a league right here in Lawrence.

What began with just 8 teams and a simple pen-and-paper scoring system has grown significantly. Today, we boast over 50 members on our leaderboard and continue to expand daily, offering full scoring and statistic tracking capabilities for all our players.

Our vibrant community

Our league attracts a diverse group of individuals, ranging from college students to retirees, and everyone in between. We are more than just a dart league; we are a vibrant and supportive community. We maintain a high standard of conduct and have zero tolerance for belligerent behavior, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for all.
